The Society of Jesus is a world-wide organisation of religious men, numbering about 22,000 spread over the world, of whom over 3000 are working in the provinces of India. In TamilNadu alone there are about 500 Jesuits working in schools and colleges, youth services and social work centers, in parishes and mission out-reach programmes, and in almost every form of service and ministry associated with the church.
St. Joseph’s College, founded in 1844 by the Fathers of the Society of Jesus popularly known as Jesuits, was established much before the foundation of the University of Madras. This portal of learning enjoys great tradition and repute and has earned several feathers to its cap. It is an autonomous college from 1978, completed three cycles of NAAC accreditation with ‘A’ Grade and awarded the ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ and Special Heritage Status by the University Grants Commission.
St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (JIM) was started primarily to form socially and ethically committed management professionals through a two year full time MBA programme, to lead complex organizations in a cross-continental environment. The institute is approved by the All India council for Technical Education, New Delhi and it is a premier management research institute of Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. JIM focuses on bridging academics with industry. Innovative teaching methodology, experienced faculty, a well-structured industry interface and a fully integrated modern campus – all contribute to the making of a transformational management leader for the future.
At JIM, we look at Management Education differently. We do not just teach ideas and concepts about business, but we form the character of our students to help them become responsible leaders.
